GMA’s SolGen is back in power! Agnes Devanadera replaces Joe Salazar as ERC chair
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera as the new chairperson of the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Devanadera, who served under the administration of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, replaces former ERC chair Jose Vicente “Joe” Salazar, who was dismissed by Malacañang in October over corruption allegations.
Based on the appointment papers signed by Duterte on Wednesday (November 22), Devanadera will head the ERC until July 10, 2022.
Devanadera, an alumna of the Ateneo Law School, was known for her candor about wanting to be appointed to the Supreme Court.
According to Newsbreak, Devanadera was asked by a magistrate during the Supreme Court’s oral arguments for the “Hello Garci” scandal in 2007 how she would like to be addressed since she was not only the Solicito General, but also the acting Justice Secretary at that time.
