Former President Fidel Ramos has advised Vice President Leni Robredo to stick it out with the Duterte administration even if she campaigned with a different running mate in the 2016 elections.
As the guest in the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s “Meet the Inquirer” forum Tuesday (Nov. 29), Ramos said: “Madam Leni, please stay in the team.”
Ramos revealed that he had voted for Robredo and President Rodrigo Duterte in the elections.
While the Vice President is often seen as a “spare tire,” Ramos expressed his belief that Robredo has a “very important role” to play in the country’s political scene.
Robredo has repeatedly expressed her support for Duterte even if they differ in views on certain matters and he is close with her fiercest rival for the vice presidency, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
