Action man! Francis Tolentino to monitor ‘Ompong’s’ impact for Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte has designated his political adviser, Francis Tolentino, as the main person in charge of overseeing government efforts in response to Typhoon Ompong’s onslaught.
Duterte gave Tolentino a new assignment during the command conference he led at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center (NDRRMC) Operations Center in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City Thursday (September 13).
The President said Tolentino, a former chairman of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), will “observe the operations” of concerned government agencies in areas where Typhoon Ompong’s impact will be felt the most.
“So all he has to do is to report to me the progress of the — whatever is being presented by the typhoon there in those places,” he said.
PAGASA has raised storm signal number 1 in 37 areas across Luzon and Visayas due to Typhoon Ompong.
As of 4 p.m., the typhoon was located 575 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes packing maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 255 kilometers per hour.
