Aguirre orders NBI probe over another gov’t doctor killed on duty
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a probe on another slain government doctor.
Aguirre’s latest department order instructed the NBI “to conduct investigation and case build-up on the death of Dr. George Repique Jr., provincial health officer, who was allegedly gunned down by riding-in-tandem at around 8:30 p.m. in Trece Martires City, Cavite on July 11, 2017.”
The Secretary also instructed NBI Director Dante Gierran “to submit report to the office of the undersigned on the development and status of the investigation.”
Repique, 47, has been serving as provincial health officer for seven years when he was killed after having finished hospital duty.
He is the third government doctor killed this year.
The two others are Dr. Dreyfus Perlas who was slain in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte last March and Dr. Sajid Sinolinding who was gunned down in Cotabato City in April.
