Alvarez clueless on why PDP-Laban nemesis gets media coverage: May katok yan!
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has shrugged off the move of a politiko from Mindanao to have him declared persona non grata by his own party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan.
Alvarez expressed belief that Cesar Cuntapay, the party’s former interim regional council president for Southern Mindanao, got media coverage for his actions because of efforts by a powerful public relations firm.
“Alam ninyo kaya naman pinapansin yan ng media dahil may PR na ginagamit yan. Sa totoo lang taga-Tagum City yan. Kababayan ko yan. May katok yan,” the Speaker told reporters Wednesday (August 30).
Cuntapay and 200 other members of PDP-Laban in Mindanao passed a resolution for Alvarez to be declared persona non grata for being a “fake” leader and lacking the moral ascendancy to lead.
But Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, the party’s president, has disowned the group’s actions and ordered Cuntapay and his colleagues to be subject to disciplinary action.
Alvarez maintained that PDP-Laban is growing even stronger as a party, though some have taken advantage of it by soliciting money from persons who are interested in becoming a member.
“Wag po kayong maniniwala kung merong magre-recruit sa inyo at merong magpapa-oath. At lalong lalo na yung mangongolekta ng bayad. Pag may nangolekta ng bayad sa inyo, ipahuli niyo yan, estafa yan,” he said.
