Ambisyoso! Bongbong admits wanting to run for president in 2016
Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has admitted to considering running for his father’s old post in the 2016 elections.
Marcos, however, said Sunday (April 29) that he had to settle for running for vice president because it was a race he thought he could win.
“Sabi ko siguro panahon na kasi ang pakiramdam ko marami na talaga akong naranasan at marami na akong nahawakan na posisiyon siguro kaya ko ng i-promote ang sarili ko,” he said when asked about his reason for running for vice president.
“But sabi ko Presidente baka hindi pa kaya ngayon so sabi ko Vice President siguro kakayanin this time,” Marcos added.
The son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos had only been in office for one term as senator when he decided to run for vice president in 2016.
He lost to Vice President Leni Robredo by over 200,000 votes.
Convinced he was cheated of victory, Marcos filed an electoral protest questioning the results of the vice presidential race before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
