Andanar confirms ‘DDS’ is fake media but it’s no big deal
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Monday (August 7) practically confirmed that “DDS” was an inexistent media entity as he tried to explain why pro-administration blogger Bruce Rivera was accredited to cover the ASEAN events in the country.
Andanar said it just so happened that Rivera, a lawyer, indicated “DDS” when he applied for media accreditation.
“Well, si Atty. Bruce kasi is really a follower of President – a supporter. At ang blogs pa ni Atty. Bruce ay pangalan niya. Atty. Bruce din ang blog. So he decided to put DDS, eh siyempre doon naman sa NOC [National Organizing Committee] ay wala namang malice na, ‘Ito ang inilagay mo, ‘di ito na ang ilalagay natin,’” he said.
Rivera claimed in a Facebook post that DDS is the “biggest network in the Philippines” after a foreign reporter asked him during an ASEAN event what it meant.
DDS can mean either the Davao Death Squad or Duterte’s Diehard Supporters.
It is also the title of the weekly podcast that Andanar hosts with Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson.
Regardless of their affiliation, Andanar said what was important was that the accredited bloggers promoted the ASEAN event in the country.
