Andanar slams ICC: Vigilante killings are not sanctioned by the State
Responding to the International Criminal Court (ICC) report that it has expressed concerns on the extra-judicial killings here, Presidential Communications chief Sec. Martin Andanar justified the majority of the killings as a result of the legitimate police operations.
“Many of those who died were killed during legitimate police operations which are currently undergoing investigation as directed by the President,” Andanar said.
He added that the drug-related killings, including vigilante killings, are not State-sanctioned.
Andanar noted the Sen. Richard Gordon, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights has declared that “there is no proof that the killings were state-sponsored”.
Gordon’s committee conducted the legislative probe on extrajudicial killings.
