Andaya denies GMA gave district P2.4B ‘pork’: DPWH ang humingi ng pera!
House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. has come to Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s defense after Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed her district got P2.4- billion worth of pork barrel funds for 2019.
Andaya said Thursday (December 6) that it was the Department of Public Works and Highways’ regional director for Pampanga who asked lawmakers for bigger funds for flood control projects in the province.
He added that Lacson may have seen the hefty allocation given to the second district of Pampanga as a form of pork barrel fund because of lawmakers’ “misplaced generosity.”
“Mukhang naging, let’s say, misplaced generosity. Ang napuruhan tuloy ay iyung taong nagpipigil pa,” Andaya said in an interview over dzMM radio.
“Request po ng regional director ng DPWH yun po ang pagkasabi sa akin nung chairman ng appropriations. So yun na nga po ang rason nila kaya ginawa run,” he said.
House appropriations committee acting chairperson Congresswoman Maria Carmen Zamora earlier denied that Arroyo’s district got billions in allocation under the proposed national budget for 2019.
Andaya said he and his colleagues will help the Senate in scrutinizing next year’s proposed budget before it is passed into law.
