Asa pa more: Trillanes confident Gordon can’t muster votes to expel him from Senate
Senator Sonny Trillanes on Tuesday said Sen. Dick Gordon, can “fantasize” about the scenario having him expelled by colleagues in the upper chamber for alleged unparliamentary behavior.
Gordon on Sept. 4 filed a complaint against Trillanes before the Senate Ethics Committee, chaired by Sen. Tito Sotto, for repeatedly maligning the integrity of fellow senators and in the process damaging the reputation of the Senate as an institution.
Gordon, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, has no qualms in declaring that he wants Trillanes be expelled after the latter branded his panel as a “comite de absuelto” (clearing committee) for showing his bias for Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his brother-in-law Mans Carpio. Both men were being linked to smuggling at the Bureau of Customs (BoC).
“It’s not gonna be happen. I believe senators know me that this thing whatever he is alleging is not true. I trust in their wisdom and good judgment,” Trillanes said in a television interview.
“Sen Gordon wants me to expel for that particular episode. How petty is that but that’s the thing he wants to protect his political patron which is (President Rodrigo) Duterte,” he said.
Trillanes added, “He (Gordon) wants to show him (President Duterte) that he is the most loyal senator in the Senate that’s why he is willing to do this. But (for) the other senators (who) will go along with him, I think not.”
