Ateneo de Manila’s president thinks green: Find out Jett Villarin’s plans for campus
Ateneo de Manila University president Fr. Jose Ramon “Jett” Villarin may be a blue eagle through and through, but he thinks green when it comes to improving the campus.
In an interview with People Asia for its “People of the Year” issue, Villarin said they plan to acquire two more e-jeeps to discourage members of the community from using their cars.
A parking structure is also being built to “recover the greens,” he added.
“We want to have a safer future with the way we use things, produce things, consume things. We are trying to change mindsets and change hearts; change in terms of caring for the commons, caring for the environment, our shared home,” Villarin said.
Aside from having e-jeeps, other green initiatives that ADMU had undertaken in the past few years include having wider sidewalks to encourage people to walk, and banning smoking on campus.
