Awkward! Andanar admits he’s been demoted to supervisor
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has tried to cushion the blow of his demotion to a mere underling of Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella by saying he still has important tasks to do.
In a statement issued Thursday (March 2), Andanar confirmed the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO)’s “content group” is now under Abella.
Now that he’s no longer in charge of content and messaging, Andanar said he will concentrate on running PCOO and eight of its attached agencies “to ensure lasting reforms.”
“I will speak from time to time if Spokesperson Ernie Abella is not around,” he said.
What Andanar failed to mention, however, is how much of a far cry his new job was from his old responsibilities.
From speaking on Malacañang’s podium, Andanar will just be monitoring news clippings and fixing the itinerary of President Rodrigo Duterte’s foreign trips.
The only other important task he will do is oversee the payroll of PCOO’s employees.
