Ayaw ko sa mga mayaman na walang hiya! Duterte happy govt earning millions from Mile Long after Prieto-Rufino eviction
President Rodrigo Duterte continues to loathe against the Prieto-Rufino family more than year after a court forced them to leave the Mile Long property in Makati City.
“Talagang galit ako sa mga mayaman na walang hiya,” said Duterte who vowed to go after the Prieto-Rufino family not only for refusing to pay back rentals for their decades-long stay in Mile Long but also for allegedly evading taxes in their food franchise, Dunkin’ Donuts.
In a speech, Duterte said: “Iyong mga Prieto ganun. Anong ginawa nila? Mile Long, 50 years. Natapos ‘yung contract, anong nangyari? They never returned the property to the government. Tapos sa contract ‘yung mga stalls doon belongs to the government.”
“They continued collecting. Never remitting the money to the government. Kaya sabi ko,’Pag hindi kayo umalis diyan, papasukan ko ‘yan ng Pilipino’. Sabihin ko (sa mahihirap), ‘Lupa ninyo ‘yan, you occupy it’. Kaya sumibat sila,” he added.
Last August 2017, Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 141 under Judge Mary Ann Mañalac ordered Sunvar Realty, owned by the Prieto-Rufin family, to leave the Mile Long property,. The judge issued a Writ of Execution Pending Appeal directing the Makati Sheriff to implement the 2015 decision of the Metropolitan Trial Court of Makati, Branch 61 pay government back rentals amounting to P1.66 billion, exclusive of legal interest.
Duterte said he was happy so far with the results because the property “is back…it’s earning.” He ordered Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez to find a more viable way to maximizeprofits from the Makati property.
“Sabi niya ‘anti-elite’. Hindi ako anti-elite. Ayaw ko lang ‘yang lokohan na ganun harap-harapan. Tapos ‘yung doughnut nila walang bayad-bayad amounting two billions. In-assess ni Henares, eight million. Anak ka ng puta. Dito sa panahon ko, wala ‘yan,” said.
Last February, the BIR filed tax evasion complaint against the Prietos’ Golden Donuts Inc. for cheating the government of P1 billion in income and value added taxes in 2007 from its Dunkin’ Donuts franchise network. Golden Donuts has denied the claim saying it has settled all its tax liabilities as of 2012.
