Ayaw sumabit! Bong Go’s family asks PCIJ to exclude firms from special report
Relatives of Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go asked a non-profit media outlet to exclude their companies in the report which found that they cornered P4.6-billion worth of infrastructure projects over the past 10 years.
PCIJ bared the request of Go’s family members in response to his allegation that the report was “fake news” and an example of “biased reporting.”
“PCIJ had patiently waited for over two months to get the side of Bong Go and his family members before the story ran. We regret, however, that we could not grant a request they made for their companies not to be included anymore in the story,” the company said in a statement released on September 8.
Research by PCIJ showed that CLTG Builders, which is owned by Go’s father, and Alfrego Builders, which belongs to his half-brother, cornered multibillion-peso worth of infrastructure projects in the Davao region from 2007 to 2017.
PCIJ said more than half of the total amount of deals bagged by over the past years were clinched last year, during the Duterte administration.
