Babalikan ka din ng ginagawa mo! Trillanes claims Duterte using Aguirre as pawn to ‘twist’ laws to weaponize pork barrel queen Napoles
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Sunday said President Duterte had Department of Justice (DOJ) Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II “twist the laws and logic” just so Janet Lim Napoles be made state witness in the pork barrel scam.
Trillanes was sure that President as the one responsible in supposedly using Napoles’ “tainted credibility to get back at other critics while sending a chilling message to other legislators implicated in the pork barrel scam.”
“By now, it should be clear to all that these diabolical plots can only happen with the implicit or explicit directives of Duterte,” he said.
“Sige lang, Mr. Duterte, babalik din sa inyo balang araw ang mga pinagagagawa nyo,” Trillanes said.
The senator, who is currently abroad, joined colleagues in denouncing the move taken by the DOJ recently, placing the alleged brains behind the P10-billion pork barrel scam, under provisional coverage of the government’s Witness Protection Program (WPP).
Trillanes said this was the latest meddling by the President of high profile legal cases such as the dismissal of charges against alleged rug lords and officials of the Bureau Customs as well as the suspension of Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur Carandang and the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
“Duterte first used the drug convicts to fabricate testimonies against Sen. (Leila) De Lima, then he had his kumpare drug lords exonerated (by the DOJ). Thereafter, he promoted the prosecutor who dismissed the case,” Trillanes said referring to Prosecutor Aristotle Reyes who took his oath of office as RTC judge last Feb. 2, following the dismissal of the cases involving alleged big-time drug lord Peter Lim.
Lim, along with self-confessed drug dealer Kerwin Espinosa, were recommended by the DOJ prosecution panel to be exonerated of drug charges.
Reyes handled the case as well as the P6.4 billion smuggled shabu from China where Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials and other individuals who were implicated were absolved of the charges.
Duterte, the senator said, had the DOJ exonerate those involved in the shabu shipment which implicated his son, former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and promoted Reyes.
“He also had his minions file a fantastic and unconstitutional sedition case against me hoping to silence me,” he said.
“Make no mistake, Aguirre is merely a pawn. Duterte is the real mastermind behind all these twisted legal maneuverings,” Trillanes said.
