Back to days of glory: Francisco Duque returns as DOH Secretary
Former Health Secretary Francisco Duque III is set to return to his old post following his appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duque will return to the DOH after serving as its head from 2005 to 2010, under former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Duterte signed Duque’s appointment papers Thursday (October 26), the same day it was released by Malacañang.
He replaces Paulyn Ubial, whose appointment was rejected by the Commission on Appointments.
Politiko earlier reported that Duterte was considering either Duque or former Health Secretary Jaime Galvez Tan to head the DOH.
A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Duque also served as chairman of the Civil Service Commission under the Aquino administration.
In February this year, Duque was appointed chairman of the Government Service Insurance System.
