Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Office of Civil Defense deputy adminisrator Nicanor Faeldon and actor Philip Salvador took their oath as Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) members before party president Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
Dela Rosa, Faeldon and Salvador took their oath Wednesday (September 12) in Pimentel’s office at the Senate.
Dela Rosa would be running for senator under PDP-Laban. Faeldon and Salvador, meanwhile, kept mum on their political plans for next year’s polls.
“Tutulong lang ako sa programa ng Pangulo,” said Faeldon, former Customs chief who was detained by the Senate for refusing to cooperate in a probe on the P6.4 billion shabu shipment to the country.
However, Salvador hinted that he may be eyeing a run for a seat in the upper chamber. “Kung saan mo ako nakita, doon ako tatakbo,” he said, while in Pimentel’s office at the Senate.
Energy Secretary All Cusi, identified by Pimentel as PDP-Laban’s campaign manager, said they are still finalizing their Senate slate for 2019, and may have room to accomodate Salvador.
“Hindi pa naman kumpleto talaga yung lineup ng senatoriables diba,” Cusi said. “That will still undergo certain process para malaman natin kung sino talaga ang lineup.”
As for Faeldon, Cusi said, “Siguro malalaman na lang natin ‘yan in the next two weeks. So hindi pa kwan. Kami ay naguusap-usap pa lang.”
PDP-Laban has four more slots left in its eight-man Senate slate, which it drafted in a leadership assembly two weeks ago.
Currently, the lineup of the ruling party bears Pimentel, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, Reps. Zajid Mangudadatu, Monsour del Rosario, Dakila Cua, and Karlo Nograles, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and presidential political adviser Francis Tolentino.
