Bato has no use for subpoena powers in ‘Oplan Tokhang’: ‘Di naman tayo nag-iimbestiga
Philippine National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa does not see why so e sectors were making a lot of fuss about the grant of subpoena powers under public Act (RA) 10973.
The PNP chief said the subpoena powers have no use in the ongoing anti-drug campaign of the PNP.
Under RA 10973, the PNP chief and the two highest officials of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) may hand down subpoenas for documents from witnesses.
He said entrants to the government’s witness protection program would provide adequate safeguards for them.
The Witness Benefits, Security and Protection Program is run by the DOJ for qualified witnesses.(PNA)
