Bawal balimbing! Kiko doesn’t want ex-LP members back
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is no longer keen on accepting former members of the Liberal Party (LP) who jumped ship to other political parties when the Duterte administration came to power.
In his speech at LP’s 72nd anniversary Friday (January 19), Pangilinan expressed optimism that the party will regain its former glory in the future.
“I am asked if those who left would be allowed back later. If it were up to me, I won’t allow those who left to come back,” he said.
LP’s ranks significantly diminished after the term of former President Benigno Aquino III ended as politikos wanted to be associated with the Duterte administration for political survival.
Despite having less members than during the Aquino administration, Pangilinan said LP will continue to exist.
“We in the Liberal Party, we have been through hell and back. And we in the Liberal Party, to borrow and paraphrase the words of the poet Dylan Thomas: ‘We will not go quietly into this dark night,'” he said.
