‘Big man’ Drilon sheds a few pounds after Christmas; to use old Corona robe for Sereno impeachment
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon is so happy to find out he shed a few pounds and inches after the Christmas season.
He found this out after one of staff took his measurements for the new robe that he and other colleagues would wear for their anticipated role as judges in the impeachment trial of Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno.
“May pumunta na sa opisina, siguro from the Office of the Senate President, ang sabi ko meron akong dating toga at pumayat ako ng konti ngayon at pwede ko pa gamitin ‘yun,” he said between gasps of laughter.
Drilon said senators were asked to have a fitting for their impeachment robes. Drilon is one of the few incumbent senators who participated in the impeachment trial of the last Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Corona was impeached by the House of Representatives in Dec. 2011 and the Senate trial lasted for five months.
