President Rodrigo Duterte’s net trust rating bounced back to an “excellent” +75 in December 2017 after a two-digit decline in the third quarter last year, according to the latest survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Results of the poll showed 83 percent of adult Filipinos have “much trust” in Duterte, while 10 percent were undecided and seven percent had “little trust.”

Duterte’s net trust rating of +75 in the fourth quarter of 2017 is a 15-point improvement from the “very high” +60 he received in September 2017 and a rebound from the +75 he posted in June 2017.

SWS said that except September 2017, Duterte’s trust rating has been excellent since he became President in June 2016.

The pollster classifies net trust ratings of +70 and above, as “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable”.

SWS conducted the survey from December 8 to 16, 2017 with 1,200 Filipino adults as respondents.

Duterte rebounded to an “excellent” trust rating on the back of double-digit improvements across geographic areas.

His trust rating in Mindanao remained excellent at +82, up by 12 points; while it rose by one grade from very good to excellent in the Visayas from +57 in September to +76

Duterte’s trust rating in Metro Manila also improved from very good to excellent, up by 19 points from +54 in September +73 in December.

It remained very good in Balance Luzon, while up by 14 points from +52 in September to +66 by the end of 2017.

Duterte’s trust rating was also excellent across all socioeconomic classes, rising by two grades from good to excellent in class E, one grade from very good to excellent in class D, and staying excellent from classes ABC.
