Binay tells critics: I work and campaign at the same time, so what?
Vice President Jejomar Binay admitted that he is working and campaigning at the same time during his almost daily trips to provinces.
Binay gave the candid remark after being attacked for using government resources as head of the government’s housing and overseas Filipino workers (OFW) portfolios to boost his candidacy for president in 2016.
” Let’s just be honest with each other, we will not be able to distinguish whether I am working or campaigning. Meron akong napuntahan dito OFW na kailangan ng tulong, mayroong Pag-ibig na fino-follow up namin. Let’s not be hypocrites. As an incumbent, it will be very hard for you to distinguish if we are campaigning or we are working,” said Binay during a trip to Tabuelan, Cebu last Thursday (Nov. 20).
Binay was in Cebu to oversee the awarding of a contract to build 200 houses for victims of supertyphoon “Yolanda/Haiyan” last year.
The Vice President has made it a policy not to be a “hypocrite” unlike his foes who keep insisting they would rather focus on work rather than pursue their political aspirations.
“The following day after the 2010 election, I announced I will be running for the position of president,” said Binay.
