Binay to Trillanes: Lilipas din ‘yan!

This, too, shall pass – thus spoke Senator Nancy Binay to opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who is facing a threat of arrest after President Rodrigo Duterte declared void from the start his amnesty grant.
Binay told reporters in a chance interview Tuesday (September 4) that she advised Trillanes to simply weather through his troubles.
“From somebody na pinagdaanan ‘yung ganyan, pagdaanan lang, lilipas din ‘yan,” Binay said.
Binay and Trillanes were previously cold to each other, as the latter led a Senate probe into corruption allegations against the former’s father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
However, things have started warming up in March this year, when Trillanes reached out to Binay before Congress’ break for the Holy Week.
Trillanes faces the possibility of arrest after President Rodrigo Duterte declared void from the start the amnesty granted to him by former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
In Proclamation No. 572, Duterte said Trillanes failed to apply for amnesty and did not admit his guilt in his participation in a failed ouster ploy against then-President and now-House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
This has been denied by Trillanes, who showed a news report during the Senate’s session on his application for amnesty.
