Binraso para bumaba: Duterte bares threat to sue Licuanan if she didn’t resign
President Rodrigo Duterte admitted he had a hand in the resignation of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chairperson Patricia Licuanan.
Speaking before local politikos in Cebu Monday (February 12), Duterte shared that he relayed his threat to sue Licuanan through Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.
Call. Sabihin mo kay Medialdea. Either she steps down or I will file a case against her. Mamili siya,'” he recalled.
Licuanan said Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea called her up in January and told her to resign or life would be harder for her.
The former CHED chairperson wanted to step down when her term ends in July 2018.
Duterte accused Licuanan of giving funds from other agencies to her office.
PBA party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles accused Licuanan of delaying the release of the living allowances of over 9,500 government scholars and traveling excessively.
Duterte said CHED Commissioner and officer in charge Prospero “Popoy” De Vera Jr. solved the problem Licuanan sat on.
‘Yung bagong CHED,” he said.
Licuanan maintained she is innocent of the allegations against her.
