Biyahe na uli! Duterte lifts OFW deployment ban to Kuwait after 3 months
President Duterte has allowed the lifting of deployment ban for skilled and semi-skilled workers in Kuwait after negotiation efforts from both the Philippines and Kuwait led to ironing of recent disputes.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the announcement Tuesday morning a few days after the Philippine representatives led by special envoy Abdullah Mama-o struck agreements for return of undocumented Filipinos from the Gulf nation.
The partial lifting also came after the two countries signed a memorandum of agreement aimed at improving the working conditions of Filipino domestic helpers there.
Duterte imposed the ban last February in protest over the inhuman treatment of OFWS in Kuwait, highlighted by the discovery of a Filipina’s cadaver in a freezer.
