How bloody has the Duterte admin been? Bato gives official death toll
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Tuesday (March 14) gave a running total of the deaths recorded since President Rodrigo Duterte’s assumption of power on June 30, 2016.
Reported to be as high as 8,000, Dela Rosa told a House Committee on Public Order hearing that the current number of deaths is at 6,137.
He didn’t give a cutoff date for the figure, which he said represented “EJK (extrajudicial killing) or DUI (death under investigation) cases.”
The PNP boss claimed that they have made “breakthroughs” in the probe of these slayings.
Out of this figure, the Dela Rosa bared that “the total number of murder cases under investigation is 4,435.”
“The total number of murder cases filed in court is 1,409,” he said. Among these cases, 830 were filed with arrested suspects, while the remaining 579 were filed sans the perpetrators.
“But naka-file parin yung kaso niyan at identified yung suspect,” he clarified.
“So may mga breakthrough napo tayo your honor, di po natin to pinabayaan, tuloy lang ang imbestigasyon,” Dela Rosa boasted.
