Bong Revilla loses appeal to refute plunder evidence
The Sandiganbayan 1st Division on Thursday (December 7) junked the motion of former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. to be allowed to refute all the evidence presented against him during the plunder trial of the pork barrel scam.
The anti-graft court on Thursday (December 7) turned down his motion or leave to file a demurrer to evidence since if found no need for such ako.
“The court is of the view that there is a need for the accused to present evidence,” Justice Efren dela Cruz told Revilla and his lawyers.
“Therefore, the motions for leave are hereby denied,” the magistrate said.
With the ruling, Revilla will have to present before the court his defense against the evidence against him.
Apart from plunder, Revilla has been charged with 16 counts of graft in connection to the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
Under the charges, Revilla is accused of having amassed P242 million in kickbacks from his co-accused, pork barrel scam brains Janet Lim Napoles, in exchange for choosing her non-government organizations to implement ghost projects funded by his PDAF.
