Boy Abunda wants Roxas as president because ‘he’s not perfect’
Television host and gay icon Boy Abunda endorsed the presidential bid of administration bet Mar Roxas.
Abunda attended the Liberal Party’s youth gathering “Let’s Vote 5,” attended by thousands of members of the youth on April 28, 2016 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon city.
In his message, Abunda said it was his advocacy to vote for Roxas because he believes Roxas does not make himself appear too perfect.
“Mar Roxas is not perfect. I am voting for him because he’s not perfect. And he does not present himself to me as someone perfect,” Abunda said.
He said Roxas also risked his life when he facilitated relief operations in Abunda’s hometown in Borongan, Eastern Samar at the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda.
Abunda lauded the administration for its bottom-up budgeting and its anti-corruption crusade.
Abunda also said his vote is for Roxas because the latter supported the passage of an anti-discrimination bill and backed his running-mate Leni Robredo’s plan to allow same-sex civil unions.
“Ako, hindi po ako nagkukunwari na I speak for the LGBT community. I don’t. I am just an individual saying Mar, that because of your support to the ADB, [my vote is yours],” he added.
