Buhay pa ba si Loot? Duterte asks after foiled attack on accused narco-general
President Rodrigo Duterte loudly wondered during a speech in Cebu Sunday if accused narco-general – Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Vicente Loot – is still alive.
“Sabi ko sa kanila huwag kayong pumasok diyan dahil papatayin ko kayo. Ewan ko si Daanbantayn (mayor) Loot kung buhay pa, putang ina,” said Duterte in Cebuano.
“Wag niyo ako takutin ng pagiging general niyo. Heneral, Heneral ka pa. ‘Wag niyo akong buang niyo ako. General, general problem ka lang dyan,” he added.
Duterte made the mocking query seven days after Loot , a former police chief superintendent, and his family survived an ambush at the New Port Roro in Barangay Maya of Daanbantayan town on May 13, 2018.
Fresh from a visit at Malapascua Island, Loot, his wife, their daughter and grandchildren survived unscathed from the ambush but two of his drivers, his maid and one port worker- were injured.
Loot , who has a declared net worth of more than P100 million, claimed the attack was due to Duterte’s public accusation that he was among five narco-generals who protected the drug trade in the country.
The other five generals are: retired Deputy Director Gen. Marcelo Garbo; Police Director Joel Pagdilao; and Chief Superintendents Edgardo Tinio and Bernardo Diaz.
