Buti pa si Erwan! Berna Romulo Puyat confirms celebrity chef will return P1-M payment for ‘Buhay Carinderia’
Celebrity chef Erwan Heussaff will return the P1-million payment he received for the controversial “Buhay Carinderia” project, Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat confirmed recently.
In an interview with entertainment writers, Puyat cleared Heussaff’s name in the “Buhay Carinderia” controversy by sharing his plan to return the payment he received from the Tourism Promotions Board.
The Tourism Secretary said Heussaff, who’s married to actress Anne Curtis, is also a good person who gets along well with those around him.
Heussaff was tapped as an ambassador for “Buhay Carinderia,” an P80-million project that planned to feature street food and eateries.
The project was controversial not just because of its enormous budget, but also because the payment was made to its proponent, Marylindbert International, even before “Buhay Carinderia” started.
Puyat said the Commission on Audit is now reviewing the project.
