Byahe mo, aprub mo: Lawmaker accuses Licuanan of authorizing own travels
A party-list lawmaker has accused Commission on Higher Education chairperson Patricia Licuanan of flying overseas often, saying she even approved her own requests for travel.
Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles posted on Facebook copies of documents showing Licuanan signed the forms for her own Authority to Travel Abroad for various trips in 2017.
Of Licuanan’s eight trips overseas last year, Nograles said three took place in June where she traveled to the US and then to France and Germany. He said the CHED chairperson even flew business class when she went to France.
“Our president travels economy but our CHED Chair Licuanan takes business class,” Nograles said.
The lawmaker chided Licuanan for leaving the country often while thousands of CHED K-12 Transition Scholars have not received their living allowances since 2016.
He said some scholars have been forced to stop their studies because of the delay in the release of their stipends.
” The funds for our Transition scholars have been allotted to CHED. Where did the money go? Napunta ba sa paglalamyerda ni Chair Licuanan?” Nograles asked.
