Chivalry’s not dead: Señeres picks Poe, Miriam over self for president
OFW Family Club party-list Rep. Roy Señeres will not be voting for himself in the 2016 elections even if he’s running for president.
Instead, the former Philippine ambassador said he will choose either Senator Grace Poe or Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago to become the successor of President Benigno Aquino III.
His reason? To prove that chivalry’s not dead.
“I will vote for either Senator Poe or Miriam Santiago because I want to bring back the old school [custom] of being a gentleman,” he told reporters in a forum on Thursday (Oct. 22).
Señeres, who maintained he’s still serious in running for president, said it is up to the two female politikos how to respond to intent to vote for either of them.
“I do not really mind if they won’t vote for me. I just want to bring back the old school [custom] of chivalry,” he said.
The lawmaker earlier said he is counting on the support of the estimated 10 million contractual workers in the country, as well as the 5 million overseas Filipino workers, to help him become the country’s next president.
