Senator Loren Legarda’s work space is like no other.

Legarda, an ardent advocate of Philippine arts and culture, recently gave the public a peek inside her Asian-inspired Senate office filled with artwork, hand-woven textiles, and other recycled items.

The senator’s office tour was posted by Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano on her Facebook. Cayetano visited her former colleague at the Senate office, visibly awestruck by the rich art and culture that adorned Legarda’s work place.

“Cong. Pia Cayetano visited her first home, the Senate, today. I toured her in my office, which I renovated 5 years ago to reflect my advocacies: sustainability, the protection of the environment, recycling, and upcycling; promotion of Philippine culture, textiles and contemporary art; as well as the preservation of our tangible and intangible heritage. We did an impromptu FB live of our tour!” Legarda wrote on Instagram.

“Happy to bond with Cong. Pia. Her visit felt quite nostalgic as the Senate would, in a few years, transfer to its new building and address,” she said.

After dropping by at Legarda’s office, Cayetano reportedly plans to visit other heritage homes in her hometown Taguig.

“Cong. Pia was inspired by my office and thought of also visiting heritage homes in Taguig. I told her it would be nice if we could turn an old house in Taguig into a Heritage Museum that will feature local crafts, with a library and coffee shop that serves indigenous food,” Legarda said.

Swipe🔙 what a funny photo of @piacayetano who we all know is very athletic, carrying the Angud like gym weights. 😂 These stumps from illegally-logged trees, exhibited by JunYee in the CCP in 2007, are really quite heavy and they remind me of the need to protect our forests from illegal logging.
