CPP-NPA a terrorist group? If their acts are ‘terroristic’ – VP Robredo
Vice President Leni Robredo said the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, New People’s Army, may be classified as terrorists groups if their acts fall under the said definition.
In a radio interview on Wednesday (December 6, 2017), Robredo said: “‘Yung sa atin, parating ano ba ‘yung definition ng terorista? Nangingikil.”
“‘Yung sa akin po, kung ‘yung ginagawa ng New People’s Army ay mga terroristic activities, nararapat lamang na ideklara na terorista,” she added.
The Vice President, however, noted that the government’s firm stance against terrorism must be conveyed effectively.
She likewise reiterated the need for the country to show a united front against terrorists, going beyond political colors.
The Vice President issued the comment after President Rodrigo Duterte formally tagged the CPP-NPA as terrorist groups, after the fallout of the peace negotiations between the government and the communists.
