Damay damay na! Duterte claims ISIS recruiting his cousins
Not even President Rodrigo Duterte’s cousins have been spared from the ISIS’ efforts to build up its army of terrorists in the Philippines.
In his speech at the 50th founding anniversary of Agusan del Norte Saturday (June 17), Duterte revealed why he was enraged at the activities of the international terrorist organization and its local affiliate, the Maute group, in Mindanao.
“To the Maranaos, what I’m angry about is even my own cousins there were being invited to join the Maute and IS,” he said in Bisaya.
Duterte said the New People’s Army is “more tolerable” than the ISIS/Maute group because the latter uses Islam to commit atrocities.
“Read their pamphlets. They’ll run over you, stab you, shoot you, burn down your — Those are the teachings of a corrupt using a religion to do whatever they want to do. All they know is to kill and destroy,” he said.
Government forces have been going after members of the Maute group in Marawi City, where the terrorists staged an attack on May 23.
