De Castro doubles fee for transcripts of stenographic notes. Here’s why
Just a few days prior her retirement, Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro has decided to give court stenographers a parting gift.
“The Court also approved another recommendation of the Court Administrator to increase the fee for transcript of stenographic notes from P10.00 to P20.00 per page which will directly benefit the court stenographers nationwide,” read a statement from the Office of the Chief Justice on Thursday (Oct. 4).
Recently, the SC, under the leadership of De Castro, approved upgrading the salary grades of first level court judges and giving overtime pay to court personnel in relation to the continuous trial in criminal cases.
De Castro is set to retire this Oct. 10 after having been picked as chief justice by President Rodrigo Duterte last Aug. 25.
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has already opened applications for the chief justice post due to her nearing retirement.
