Dedma na lang: Koko says Senate can’t do anything about Duterte-Trillanes smackdown
Senator Koko Pimentel on Monday said the upper chamber “is hands off” to the ongoing bitter exchanges between President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Sonny Trillanes.
He was reacting to the “word war” between the President and Trillanes who have thrown allegations of corruption and misbehavior against each other, the latest being Duterte’s allegation that the former Navy captain has hidden wealth in offshore accounts in Singapore.
Trillanes went to Singapore on Monday to belie Duterte’s claim that he kept a secret account with DBS bank. He was able to prove that the President “lied” after the bank teller told him that he has no account with them. Duterte responded by claiming it was all a trap because he only made up the bank accounts and Trillanes was fooled to acting on his accusations.
“Well, that’s the strategy of Sen. Trillanes. Pareho silang may strategy so kaya pabayaan natin sila,” Pimentel said in a chance interview.
“Si Sen. Trillanes can’t file an ethics complaint against the President here in the Senate. Wala din kami magawa. Hands off kami sa exchanges nila,” Pimentel added.
