Deserving si Mocha! UST Alumni Association stands firm on award despite president’s resignation
The University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association will not take back the award it gave to Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson despite the resignation of its president over the controversy.
In a statement, USTAA said it “stands firm with its decision not to rescind the recognition already conferred.”
“USTAAI clarifies that the recognition conferred upon to the recipients of the Thomasian Alumni in Goverrnment Service was upon its own initiative and has nothing to do with Asst. Prof. Ma. Cherry G. Tanodra, RN MAN, Director of the Office of Alumni Relations, and the University of Santo Tomas Administration,” it said.
USTAA said its president, Henry Tenedero, takes full responsibility over the controversy caused by the grant of the award to Uson and was resigning from his post.
The organization likewise apologized to UST’s Father Rector, the UST administration, the school community and public for any reaction caused from granting Uson the award.
Uson on Wednesday (January 23) returned the award to USTAA through her assistant.
