Desperado na talaga! Trillanes: Hunt for Lascañas shows he’s telling the truth
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday (June 13) slammed Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II’s directives to hunt down retired SPO3 Arturo “Arthur” Lascanas.
The move, he said, is obviously aimed at intimidating and harassing those out to testify against President Duterte and his alleged wrongdoings in the past.
“Inuna na nilang inipit si (Edgar) Matobato, ngayon naman ay si Lascanas. Kaya patunay rin ito na nagsasabi ng totoo silang dalawa,” he said in a statement.
Matobato, a self-confessed assassin who claimed to be a member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) identified Lascanas as their team leader and described him as someone very close to Duterte dating back during the Chief Executive was still Davao City mayor.
Lascanas, who has already fled the country after testifying in the Senate and implicated Duterte in numerous summary killings in Davao City long before he became president, is now subject of a manhunt by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).
Aguirre issued the directive a Lascanas is now subject of arrest warrant by the Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 for the murder of broadcaster Jun Pala in September 2003.
