‘Di katulad ng iba diyan! JV hopes dad proud he kept family name clean

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito hopes he made his father, Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, proud for keeping the family name clean, unlike other members of the clan who have been involved in anomalies.
“I’ve tried to protect the name, proud ako na ‘di ako nasangkot sa anumang anomaly, so wala akong bahid. Kaya siguro sana naman maging proud siya that I did my best to keep my name clean,” Ejercito said Thursday (October 11) in a Kapihan sa Senado forum.
Ejercito recently left Erap’s party, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, over his opposition to both him and his half-brother, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, to run for senator in the May 2019 polls.
Both of Erap’s sons have been accused of corruption before the Sandiganbayan, but JV has been acquitted of graft in 2016 and technical malversation in 2017.
Meanwhile, Jinggoy still faces plunder charges in connection with the P10 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund scam, where lawmakers allegedly pocketed public funds by channeling them through bogus foundations.
Despite this, Jinggoy has been ranking significantly higher than JV in the surveys, placing at ranks five to 12 in the latest Pulse Asia survey, while JV sank to ranks 11 to 17.
JV has attributed this to “confusion” over two siblings running at the same time, which he now plans to address by using the name “JV Estrada” in the polls.
“Malaking tulong ‘yun. I might use it kasi ayoko naman sabihin ng tatay ko na para akong tumitiwalag na. Wala akong balak putulin ang pagiging anak ko,” JV said.
