Di na makahintay si Donald! Filipino time makes Trump miss East Asia Summit
United States President Donald Trump left the Philippines on Tuesday (November 14) without attending the annual East Asia Summit due to delays in the schedule of meetings.
Taking Trump’s place in the meeting was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
According to a Reuters report, Trump told reporters on the plane that he had delivered his prepared remarks during a lunch with the leaders.
A senior White House official said the event was running “too late,” with the meeting around 90 minutes behind schedule.
Trump left the Ninoy Aquino International Airport aboard Air Force One past 3 p.m.
The US President previously said he will extend his stay in the Philippines by a day from his original overnight schedule of November 12 to 13.
Trump prolonged his stay so he could attend the East Asia Summit.
