Did Bill Pullman mock Robredo for plagiarizing his ‘Independence Day’ speech? That’s fake news, says Leni
Vice President Leni Robredo has become a victim of fake news again after a blog suggested she plagiarized a speech from an alien movie starring actor Bill Pullman.
“Fake news again. Dati lungs,” Robredo tweeted.
Robredo went to accuse “trolls” for peddling the false report that Pullman supposedly laughed at the VP for supposedly copying his presidential speech in the 1998 film “Independence Day.”
It turned out that Pullman tweeted “Creative and very well done… Gave me a good laugh this morning” in response to a YouTube video related to Star Wars last February.
His tweet however was reportedly used in a meme mocking Robredo. There were reported similarities between Robredo’s speech denouncing the Supreme Court ouster of Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno and Pullman’s President Thomas Whitmore’s rally speech to American fighter pilots in the face of alien invasion.
