Actor Dingdong Dantes and ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno are among the personalities the opposition is eyeing to field in the senatorial elections next year.
Liberal Party President Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan revealed this to Politiko Monday (September 10), along with 16 other possible senatorial candidates.
Pangilinan also confirmed that former Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay are being considered as Senate bets, as previously reported by Politiko.
Politiko has also reported that Former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada and former Akbayan party-list Rep. Barry Gutierrez may also be in the opposition’s Senate slate. This was also confirmed by Pangilinan.
Also included in the possible lineup are former Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr. and former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman.
Here is the full list of the opposition’s possible senatorial lineup for the 2019 polls, which was drawn up in meetings over the past months:
“I can confirm that our list has more than enough names to fill a slate; we have no shortage of people who are qualified and competent, who have sterling track records, and who can help change the trajectory of the country,” Pangilinan said.
Pangilinan expects the lineup to be completed before October, when politikos are scheduled to file their certificates of candidacy.
Vice President Leni Robredo would have the last say on who would make it to the final 12-man lineup of the opposition, Pangilinan said.
