Drilon to Tugade: Stop looking for scapegoats, start looking for solutions to worsening MRT woes
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon on Tuesday assailed the filing of plunder of charges against Cabinet members of the previous administration by the Department of Transportation (DoTr) over the mess in the operations of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT3).
“After almost one year and a half, I suggest to the DoTr that they stop looking for scapegoat and start looking for solutions. It’s about time that they look for solutions,” Drilon said.
The minority leader is confident that those accused would be able to defend themselves and the case would not stand in court.
“I don’t even think that there is an allegation that these respondents profited personally. I am confident (they will be vindicated in the end). I have confidence in the integrity of these people,” said Drilon who noted that only individuals who stole over P50 million could be charged with plunder.
Instead of engaging itself in legal battles, the senator urged the DoTr to attend to the problems confronting the operations of the MRT.
“Up to this point, the MRT is still in such a state that it does not serve the purpose for which it was formed,” he said.
