Duterte believes cops’ tales on Espinosa, Parojinog’s deaths: Tama o mali dun ako sa tao ko!
President Rodrigo Duterte is standing by the policemen’s stories on the deaths of Albuera Mayor Ronaldo Espinosa Jr. and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. despite allegations of a rubout.
In a speech in Davao City Friday (August 11), Duterte said he believes policemen because he is the Commander in Chief.
“Sinabi ko na sa kanila, pati ‘yung Albuera Mayor, si Espinosa. Sabi nila na pinatay diyan sa loob ng jail, it was a rubout. If you want to call it that way, so be it,” he said at a hospital’s centennial celebration.
“So kung anong sabihin nila sa akin na ‘yan ang nangyari, que se joda kung tama ‘yan o mali, dito ako sa mga tao ko. Kaya sabi ko, I will protect them,” Duterte added.
Police claimed they shot Espinosa dead last year after a gunfight ensued in the provincial jail he was detained as they were serving a search warrant.
Cops likewise claimed they were forced to fire at Parojinog on July 30 after his security team shot at them while serving a search warrant at his house.
Fourteen others died in the Ozamiz City encounter aside from the mayor.
