Duterte to bring Cabinet members to Cebu for 1st out of town meeting
Malacañang will not be the lone venue for Cabinet meetings of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Perhaps in a bid to show the rest of the Philippines that government’s power isn’t centered in the so-called “Imperial Manila” alone, Duterte will bring members of his official family to other regions for their official meeting.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Biz Buzz column published Monday (Augsut 22) quoted socioeconomic planning secretary Ernesto Pernia as saying that the President wants Cabinet meetings held on the first Monday of the month “to go to the regions” outside of Metro Manila or even his hometown, Davao City.
“The plan is, the next Cabinet meeting will be in Cebu. That is what I heard; I don’t know how firm that plan is,” he said.
Prior to formally assuming office on June 30, Duterte met then-prospective members of his Cabinet at the so-called Malacañang of the South in Panacan, Davao City.
