Duterte claims congressmen are itching to impeach Robredo: Magulo yan pero wala tayong magagawa
President Rodrigo Duterte is claiming that members of the House of Representatives were hell-bent on impeaching Vice President Leni Robredo.
In a speech in Sulu, Duterte revealed that he felt Robredo went out of bounds in speaking ill of his administration in her United Nations video message in which she claimed that 7,000 people have died in the drug war of the Duterte administration.
This is the primary basis of the complaint filed by a group led by lawyers Bruce Rivera and Trixie Cruz-Angeles (former publisher of Politiko) to impeach Robredo for betrayal of public trust.
“Pareho kay Leni, instead of promoting the goodwill, nagdala ng… Si Vice President, sige siya daldal about the Philippines. Eh ‘yung mga congressman, mainit sa kanya ngayon. Gusto talaga siya i-impeach,” said Duterte.
Duterte allies control more than two-thirds of the House members and only one-third is needed to impeach Robredo.
Duterte said that the impeachment of Robredo was out of his hands.
“Eh wala ‘yan, medyo magulo ‘yan.. Pero that is a Constitutional process. Kung nasunod, wala tayong magawa,” said Duterte.
