Pinabayaan ang mahirap: Duterte accuses ex-DSWD chief Taguiwalo of giving CCT funds to NPA

President Rodrigo Duterte has accused former Social Welfare secretary Judy Taguiwalo of diverting conditional cash transfer (CCT) funds to support the communist rebels.
“So noong una pa lang sinabi ko kay — tsk, ‘yung dating Welfare Secretary, DSWD, to concentrate doon sa lugar na gutom ang mga bata. But unfortunately though, it was part also of a — parang an arrangement where I could maybe in the process of confidence-building, I showed them the sincerity of government that we are willing to share not power but the benefits of how a working Cabinet cooperating with each other can help all Filipinos irrespective of their ideology,” said Duterte.
“It turned out sour and most of the money given — supposed to be given to the Pantawid gutom found their envelopes in the camps of the military,” according to him.
While he described Taguiwalo, a long-time left-wing activist, as “good” and “brillant,” the President pointed out that, “you do not bring in an ideology that carries with it an armed struggle to seize power of governments.”
In August 2017, the Commission on Appointments rejected the nomination of Taguiwalo as Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
