Duterte disses Oxford University over study on his keyboard trolls: Eskwelahan ng mga bobo yan!
President Rodrigo Duterte has slammed the Oxford University in England over its study on his camp’s use of “keyboard trolls” for the 2016 elections and beyond.
In a press conference in Batasang Pambansa after his two-hour State of the Nation Address (SONA) Monday (July 24), Duterte said he does not need the help of trolls since does not care about his popularity as President.
“I am not anymore eligible for reelection. I really don’t care if my ratings go up or down. That is not a significance to me,” he said.
“Pag sinabi nilang 20— And kung ‘yang Oxford… Oxford University? Eskuwelahan sa mga bobo ‘yan ma’am. Eh, totoo,” Duterte added.
According to Oxford’s study, Duterte’s camp spent at least $200,000 and employed as many as 500 people in the run up to the presidential elections to defend him from attacks.
The study said the pro-Duterte trolls “continue to spread and amplify messages in support of his policies now he’s in power.”
While the President admitted to needing help during the elections, he said he doesn’t need any defenders now since he does not care about his ratings.
He has vowed to resign if it can be proven that he gave money to pollsters such as Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations to give him favorable survey ratings.
“Pag may magsalita diyan, sabihin sa kanila, hindi man… And Rappler and everything. And lahat ‘yan. I will step down tomorrow. I can assure you. I will do that because I do not need this office,” he said.
