Duterte endorses Freddie Aguilar’s Senate bid: Iboto natin si Ka Freddie!

President Rodrigo Duterte urged the public to support the senatorial bid of folk singer Freddie Aguilar in the May 2019 midterm elections.
Duterte made the remark during the inauguration of the country’s first-ever “landport,” the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange in Parañaque City on Monday.
“Allow me this rare opportunity to say something about Freddie Aguilar. You know Freddie Aguilar, all of his songs, nasyonalista, Tagalog talaga. All of his songs carry a social message,” the chief executive said.
“Freddie is running for Senator. Wala akong hiningi sa inyo, kundi just consider, he is a brilliant man. Of course he can talk in English. But he is a singer that is his profession. Pero kung sabihin niyong bilib ako, lahat ng kanta niya there is a social message… Kaya ako, nakikiusap total dose man ‘yan, ibigay niyo sa isang nationalist, sa isang taong nagmamahal sa bayan,” he added.
Duterte also threatened in jest those who will not vote for Aguilar in next year’s polls.
“Kaya ako, kasali kayo, ‘pag hindi niyo binoto ‘yan bantay kayo sa akin, isa-isahin ko kaya. Tulungan natin si Freddie because he is one exemplary, nationalist guy and do not ever think na Tagalog (lang kinakanta niya.) He is my friend, he is a brilliant guy, he can talk and he can help the country,” the President said.
